What RetrOrbit does
Only the pre-2012 game
The client has no access to anything added after 2012: later ships, modules and systems simply do not exist in it.
Official PvE server
You connect to the official PvE server. RetrOrbit is only the client you play through.
A shared map, filtered
Our master server receives your ship data and removes every player who is not using the retro client from your view.
Ghosts for the rest
If someone without the retro client attacks you, they appear as a transparent ship named “ghost”, so you always know where the hit came from.

Get the client
- Download and unzip the file.
- Run RetrOrbit.exe.
- Log in with your normal game account.
- Pick the PvE server and fly.
The source code will be published so you can check what the client does before you run it.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. RetrOrbit is free and will stay free. We do not sell anything and do not take donations for access.
Can my account get banned?
It is possible. The client talks to a live official server and is not approved by its owners. Use it knowing that risk.
Do you need my password?
No. We never ask for it, and we never store it. Never share your password with anyone claiming to be RetrOrbit staff.
Why can’t I see some players?
Players who are not using the retro client are hidden from your map. If one of them attacks you, they show up as a transparent “ghost”.
